Group D:

Group D is one of the more competitive groups in the tournament. England, Uruguay, and Italy all have a good chance of making it out of the group. Then there is Costa Rica, who will enjoy the sights and sounds of the World Cup… and not get a single point.

1. Uruguay:

Uruguay will continue their good World Cup form by winning Group D this summer. Led by Premier League Player of the Year Luis Suarez and PSG striker Edison Cavani, Uruguay will score a tournament leading 7 goals in the group stage. Suarez will have to control his temper, and his hands, and attempt to not get sent off during the tournament.

2. England:

The Three Lions will shock the footballing world by handily defeating Italy in their first group game. England will get 2 goals from Daniel Sturridge and Jack Wilshire. Also, Frank Lampard will finally score his first World Cup goal in his third tournament. England will finish with 6 points and qualify for the knockout rounds.

3. Italy:

Italy will be a disappointing team, and like in 2010, will fail to qualify for the knockout rounds. Italy will only win one game, and it will be against the group minnow, Costa Rica. The team will struggle to find offense and Mario Balotelli will lose his cool and get a red card in their final game.

4. Costa Rica:

Costa Rica was drawn into a very tough group. They will fail to pick up a point, but will be thrilled with scoring a goal. They will score a goal against the underachieving Italians, and the tournament will be viewed as a success by the Costa Ricans.
