Last Minute Waiver Wire Adds To Help You Survive the Byes

This week there are a whopping six NFL teams on bye. This makes line up decisions even harder especially when this causes you to have several holes to fill in your line up. Here are some guys that could potentially give your team a boost in its time of need and help you survive this week.

 

Brian Hoyer (6.7% owned NFL.com):

Brian Hoyer has been a decent QB this year, but you probably should not own him….unless your in desperate need like this week. He has a matchup made in heaven this week as he takes on the Bucs. The Bucs have the 31st ranked pass defense and even Hoyer should be able to make something happen. You should be able to get at least a double digit output out of him this week, making him a relatively safe start under the circumstances.

 

Michael Vick (3.6% owned):

This pick is for all those fantasy owners who love to take risks. Michael Vick just last year was a studly fantasy QB who only lost his job due to injury and ridiculous play of Nick Foles. It’s unclear how much Vick has left in the tank but if your willing to risk it; he could pay dividends. He is a creative quarterback that can make stuff happen with his legs and arm strength. This is a VERY risky add and may not merit a starting spot unless you really want to take a chance, but the potential is here for a good performance.

 

Jeremy Hill (63.5% owned):

Giovanni Bernard will miss his first career game this week, thus opening the door for the big man out of LSU, Jeremy Hill. Hill has shown great promise this year and should be heavily used in the Cincinnati game plan. Rumors speculate he could get around 20 touches.

He also has an outstanding matchup against the Jags who are well….the Jaguars. They are not really that good at anything football-wise, unless you count losing football games. Also AJ Green comes back, further boosting Hill’s value as teams will respect his ability as a WR and of the passing game and stack the box less. The stars seem to have aligned for Hill. Proceed with caution though with Hill as the last time a running back had this great of a matchup it was Andre Williams. I think all Williams owners know how well he has been….Start him at your flex or RB2 if you can still pick him up.

 

Jonas Gray (2.2%):

I can never really recommend you start a Patriot’s running back because let’s face it, Bill Belichick just loves messing with fantasy owners. He switches off week to week about who the main guy will be at running back. There is some speculation that Gray will take over a similar role to that of Stevan Ridley before his ACL injury. This basically means he has the potential to get you 15 points or 2 points weekly. If your desperate due to byes he is a decent flex option.

 

Andrew Hawkins (15.3%):

Not many people know this but Hawkins is actually the number one wide receiver in Cleveland. This week he has just a phenomenal matchup going up against the Bucs and their awful defense. The secondary should also be more easily exposed now that Mark Barron has been traded away. He is a solid WR2 and flex play this week.

 

Allen Robinson (3.1%): 

Allen Robison has been playing pretty well as of late. He has been receiving a good deal of targets from Blake Bortles despite Bortles’ struggles. This week the Jags go up against a weak Bengals defense. If Robinson can find his way into the end zone this week he should provide you a solid fantasy performance. Start him as a WR2 and flex this week.

 

Larry Donnell (47.1%):

Larry Donnell’s fantasy production has tapered off significantly since his 3 touchdown outburst against the Washington Redskins. Last week, however, he did accumulate 90 receiving yards, but fumbled twice. Look for him to have a rebound performance this week as the Giants take on a Colt’s defense that is still licking its wounds from the thrashing it had last week from Big Ben and company in Pittsburgh.

 

Timothy Wright (4.4%): 

If you are turning to Tim Wright this week, it means you are making an add out of pure desperation. New England already has a great TE in Rob Gronkowski, but Tim Wright sometimes finds way to sneak into the end zone and vulture some TDs. Keep your fingers crossed if you are turning to Wright that he finds his way into the end zone and helps you survive this week.
