Rookie Contract: The Frank Lampard Saga

Former Chelsea legend Frank Lampard should currently be training for the debut for New York City Football Club at Yankee Stadium. 11,000 season ticket holders have secured their seats for the season, and thousands of jerseys have been sold by the new football club. The finances, aesthetics, and flair of Manchester City are present – Frank Lampard is not.

It came to the attention of the public that Lampard had never actually signed with NYCFC. He signed with City Financial Group, owned by Oil mogul Abu Dhabi. This gave him the ability to extend his loan at Manchester City for the entirety of the Barclays Premier League Season. Ticket holders have the right to be angry due to the fact that they were promised Frank Lampard at the start of the MLS season, but will not be able to see him until the summer.

Prior to Manchester City’s ascension into Premier League royalty, they were a struggling club in a city rich in football history. City Financial Group and Abu Dhabi own Manchester City, NYCFC, Melbourne City and Yokahoma F. Marinos. While Manchester City denies the statement that they are a parent club, they are holding the cards in this conflict. Lampard will be expected to perform right away despite the fact he will have just completed a season in the Barclays Premier League and the UEFA Champions League.

In all likelihood, refunds will not be given due to the fact that Lampard eventually will play for New York. The club also has Spanish World Cup Hero, David Villa, joining their side. The team will be tested greatly with an extremely thin roster. Support at Yankee Stadium will be high during their opening season, but the club will have to perform at a high level in order to gain the  respect  of New York fans and soccer fans from around the world.
