Premier League: Who Are the Best Youngsters of the Top Teams?

It’s a common thing fans disagree about. Do you want your club to spend millions of pounds on an already established player? Or do you want to see a youth academy product given the chance?

There are pros and cons to both, but today we’re going to highlight the young players that have a good chance of being a super star in the future.

Manchester City – Kelechi Iheanacho

A man who wasn’t heard of by many until he scored the winner against Crystal Palace, the Nigerian youngster is now a good choice off the bench for Pellegrini.

That isn’t his only claim to fame.

Iheanacho helped guide the Nigeria U-17 team to a FIFA U-17 World Cup win. Oh, and he won the Golden Ball. Why is that a big deal? He joins players such as Toni Kroos and Cesc Fabregas who have also won the award.

The pacey-striker can grow to be quite the replacement for Agüero, but there (obviously) is still a lot of work to do.

Chelsea – Ruben Loftus-Cheek

We turn to the team that gets criticism for its lack of youth players getting a chance to play on the senior squad – Chelsea. Mourinho has been slammed for being oblivious to his youth, but he has stated he will ply more youth academy players.

One player who is benefitting from this? Ruben Loftus-Cheek.

Lotus-Cheek is a tall central midfielder born in Leiwsham, England. He made brief appearances last year against Sporting Lisbon, Manchester City, and West Brom. While he doesn’t have any goals or assists, he has done a phenomenal job controlling the midfield and has shown Mourinho he deserves more first team minutes.

Arsenal – Hector Bellerin

If you thought I was going to make a “Wenger and his love for youth” joke, I’m sorry to disappoint you. But the Spanish right back has really solidified his place in the starting XI. He’s played 5 out of the 6 games Arsenal have played this year, 3 of them have been clean sheets.

What makes Bellerin so deadly? His blistering pace.

The young Spaniard broke Theo Walcott’s 40 meter sprint time, which makes him the fastest player in the Arsenal squad.

Pace is a trait that many wing-backs would love to have. And when someone knows how to use that pace to stop attacks.

Another scary thing: Bellerin is 20 years old. He has so much time to improve and possibly become one of the great right backs to play in the Premier League.

Manchester United – Anthony Martial

Some say he looks a lot like Thierry Henry. I still remember Arlo White going on and on about how his goal against Liverpool looked identical to Henry.

Lot of pressure on a 19 year old, wouldn’t you think?

Well he already has one thing similar to Henry, and that is they are both French. But Martial is different from the first three players I named. The young Frenchman was bought from AS Monaco for a rumored £58 million (!!).

So far, he has saved Van Gaal from looking like a fool. Martial has 3 goals in 2 appearances, and looks like he could blossom into a great striker that United desperately needed.

The best part about seeing young players get the chance is the fact we could be watching the next big thing. While there could (and will) be players who seem promising but never live to their potential, the best thing about soccer is we have no idea what will happen next.
